Installation for the Military Flight plan Traffic_Mcyqq.bgl

1.Assumption is made that you have installed the Buffalo and Aurora aircraft.

2.Move the Traffic_Mcyqq.bgl file to your FS9\Scenery\World\scenery folder.

That's it! As a test,startup the flight simulator,select CYQQ Airport,a GMT time 16:59,and you should see three Buffalo and one Aurora aircraft parked in front of the CAF hangers. Wait one minute and one of the Buffalos will start taxiing.

Notes

The Traffic_Mcyqq.bgl flightplan provides realistic military day-to-day operation at Comox. In real life, no private GA aircraft operate out of CFB Comox.

**A working knowledge of Traffic Tools v2.02 (ttools202.zip) by Lee Swordy is required to modify AI traffic plans.**

TTools BASICS
~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is a basic explanation of how TTools works and is not, by any stretch of the imagination, meant to be a tutorial. Best to read Lee Swordy's excellent documentation for a complete understanding.

1. When you run TTools for the first time it will look in your FS9\Scenery\World\scenery folder for all Traffic_xxx.bgl files. The nice thing about FS2004 is it can handle multiple Traffic bgls whereas FS2002 could handle only one.

2. Run De-compile and it will take the Traffic_xxx.bgl file and break it down into 3 text files;

Aircraft_xxx.txt
Airport_xxx.txt
and Flightplans_xxx.txt

So what does all this mean

Aircraft_xxx.txt
AC#15501,265,"AI CC-115 DHC5 Buffalo"

AC#15501, an arbitrary number assigned by the user to identify the aircraft for the flightplan
265, cruise speed of the aircraft for AI timing purposes
"AI CC-115 DHC5 Buffalo" The name of the aircraft as it appears in your aircraft.cfg file Title=**note the name must match exactly.

CYQQ, the ICAO code of the airports involved in the flightplans
N49* 42.62',W124* 53.17', Lat and Long of the airport centre

First thing to note is the originating (departure) airport is at the end of the line

CF442 = Aircraft tail number
50% = Percentage of AI Traffic setting (in FS2004) above which this flight plan is active
24Hr = Repeat interval.. 2,4,6,12 etc

The default FS9 Traffic.bgl file contains several flightplans for GA and commercial planes (Soar,Pacifica,etc) and if this original Traffic file is retained intact,it will certainly impact your Comox flight operations with fictitious aircraft hogging arrival slots and parking spaces.
You can easily see what the correct operation at Comox should be by disabling the default FS9 Traffic.bgl file (or any other that you may have created or added that you think may contain CYQQ flight plans) as follows:

Create a new folder in FS9\Scenery\World\scenery and label it "Disabled",then simply move the file or files into it. Since FS9 cannot "see" into your Disabled folder,only the Traffic_Mcyqq.bgl is in use.
If you like what you see, then use Traffic Tools v2.02 to eliminate all the complete lines that include CYQQ in the "interfering" Traffic.bgl and move the corrected Traffic.bgl back into the Scenery folder.

Another method of disabling the CYQQ flightplans for GA aircraft is to use the Find feature in Notepad. Simply open up the flightplan with Notepad and use the Find feature searching for CYQQ. When found, look to where the line begins with an AC# and place a "//" in front of the line. Repeat as necessary. This will disable any CYQQ traffic but leave the other GA AI traffic in place. Recompile with Traffic Tools v2.02.


Make sure your Traffic slider control is set above 50%

NOW FOR YOUR FIRST PRACTICAL APPLICATION :-) - Installation of Pacific Coastal Airlines

1. Unzip Pacific Coastal Airlines Su04-FSAv4.zip to a temporary directory
2. Move the 3 text files Aircraft_FSA_CoastalAirlines_Su04v3.txt, Airports_FSA_CoastalAirlines_Su04v3.txt, and FlightPlans_FSA_CoastalAirlines_Su04v3.txt, into your TTools folder
3. Using TTools compile the 3 files into a Traffic__FSA_CoastalAirlines_Su04v3.bgl
4. In your FS2004\Scenery\Scenery folder you should see the .bgl file
